As deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Construction, Urban Development and Housing and Communal Services and Regional Policy, the president of the Construction Chamber of Ukraine Volodymyr Polyachenko.
He recalled that in 2009 the volume of construction work performed by enterprises of the industry on its own, declined compared with the year 2008 at 48,2%.
"In 2009, the country was in operation 6,4 million square meters of housing. In volume, the introduction of housing we have sunk to the level of 2003 ", - said Polyachenko.
According to him, the total number of housing sites launched almost 2 / 3 suspended or closed down, while new construction is practically not started.
"In the near future the market will react to the lack of construction backlog growth in housing prices. The proposal clearly would not meet demand ", - the official said.
